We had a lovely stay at this stunning place in an equally stunning location. Only the very large room with sea view was available that night, which at only 20 euro extra was totally worth it. Wonderfully comfortable large bed, large sitting area plus two comfortable chairs overlooking the harbour. Great location for a wonderful b&b experience.

Very good b&b in a fantastic location. Warm welcome from the owner and a perfect stay in the peace of the bay. Wonderful breakfast, really more than enough. Good food served at Mary Ann restaurant just 2 minutes away walking

LOVED our stay! Note, this is not one of the many corporate-owned castle hotels that have been sold by families who can no longer keep them. This is a real castle home still lived in by a member of the Townsend family who originally built the home. It is chock full of the original furnishings, paintings, history and mystery of an old home still in the original family. Very rare circumstance; go there if you love the real thing, and don't expect the perfect and pristeen environment of a corporate owned hotel. That it is not. But the bed was very comfortable and the view from the room was of the water. The location is fabulous, and quiet. The bathroom...OK, good enough. We found Anne to be delightful, charming, and quite genuine. The very good breakfast, served in the beautiful and grand old dining room, which was decorated with it's original 15th century buffet, and numerous huge portraits of her relatives who had previously lived there. Facinating, and a highlight of our trip. We want to return, ASAP!

Its location on the water is great, but that is the only really positive thing I can say. First, we were greated by the owner in her t-shirt and cut-offs--not very professional. And this property could be so much better if only they got rid of, or stored, half the items on display furniture, pictures, glassware, etc and cleaned up the rest. The place was too cluttered and those items on display were dirty and not maintaned. It gave the castle an unnecessary "dingy" look. There was also a child's playset in front of the property taking away from the "castle" appearance of the place. A large tent was also erected in front of the castle obstructing the water view, but I'm not sure it was a permanent fixture. All in all it did not look like the picture above. The rooms and breakfast were acceptable considering the rest of its problems.

Interesting house in suberb location. Room comfortable and spacious but en-suite a bit small. Great facility to sit outside and enjoy view was marred by hordes of wasps which need to be attended to. Breakfast could be improved.

I spent 2 weeks in England, Wales, and Ireland, and this was my favorite place to stay on the holiday. The castle was wonderful, and Anne was a lovely host. The evening by the waterfront was just perfect.
