This is a lovely house with a nice garden and comfortable rooms. The manager was more than accommodating when we called to see if we could come a day early. Breakfasts were very good, with plenty of choices--as we found true almost everywhere in Ireland. We would stay again if we had the opportunity. Trim is a pleasant little town with a spectacular ruined castle and near to the major sites in the Valley of the Boyne.

My friend and I were in Ireland for three weeks, staying in bed and breakfasts. Of all the places we stayed, Highfield House was our favorite by a landslide. The guesthouse is very nice and we can't say enough about the owners. They are so gracious and accommodating. And the breakfast they serve is beyond compare - everything offered you can imagine. Highfield House is one block from the Trim castle and downtown, an easy walk.

Highfield House Guesthouse was great value for money, stayed in a lovely room and the ensuite even had a claw bathtub! The location was excellent as Trim is a beatiful town. Easy driving distance to New Grange and the location of the Battle of the Boyne. Only took around half an hour to get to Dublin airport. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

We highly recommend the Highfield House B&B!! The service is warm and friendly. The rooms are beautiful and cozy. The food is fresh and tasteful. The location is ideal. Everything is within walking distance....Trim castle is across the street, a fantastic bakery/coffee house is a few blocks away, and dinning is also within walking distance.

The best breakfast on our entire Ireland trip, even in hotels much more expensive. Charming rooms, great hosts, everything a B&B should be. When some of our party arrived at the B&B late one morning, they were served tea and scones out on the terrace. WLAN was weak/nonexistent in our room and sometimes sketchy downstairs too, but hey, we were all on vacation. It right on the "main" road, so on a weekday morning, it may be hard to sleep in. We were compensated with a lovely river- and donkey-view. Close to everything in Trim.

Highfield house is absolutely beautiful. We had 2 rooms--one of the large rooms overlooking the front garden --it was absolutely amazing. My teenage children shared a room at the back of the house--a perfect room for them. The house is within easy walking distance to Trim Castle a great tour and the shops & restaurants of the town try the Indian restaurant--best Indian food we've eaten in all our travels. The manager of the house was really helpful & we met the owner at our amazing breakfast the next day. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Highfield house again!

We stayed at 4 different B&B's on this trip to Ireland and Highfield House was by far the best. Geraldine and Edward were very hospitable and provided great ideas for areas to visit in Trim. We had a great one night stay at Highfield House on the first night of our recent drive around Ireland. Trim was a great spot to visit Trim Castle and Newgrange from before we headed west to Galway. Our host was lovely and a marvelous cook! The house and grounds are even more beautiful than the pictures. I would certainly encourage anyone going to Ireland to stay at Highfield House.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night at Highfield and in Trim. I love the history of the building. The owner has done a beautiful job making the rooms elegant yet comfortable, and she made us feel most welcome. We had everything we needed in our room and we enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard after doing a walking tour of Trim. Wonderful place to stay.

Stayed here in early June 2014. The facilities were great, our room comfortable and clean. The B&B is situated very close to downtown, the Trim Castle and the city park. While staying there we took a day trip to Newgrange, Monasterboice and Battle of the Boyne site. All do-able in a single day's venture. The B&B owner was quite gracious when we checked in early having landed in Dublin at 7:00 AM. While our room was being prepared she provided coffee, scones, jam and butter. A welcome treat having not slept on the plane.

This is a lovely B&B surrounded by gorgeous gardens. The views are breathtaking. The hosts go out of their way to make one feel at home. We were greeted with beverages and warm scone upon arriving. The home is exquisitely decorated, and our room was extremely comfortable. It is a short walk to the center of town and the lovely Trim Stroll along the river. The surrounding castle and ruins make one feel feel that they have stepped back in time to the era of "Braveheart", which was actually filmed there. We would gladly return to this B&B upon another trip to Ireland.

HIghfield House was amazing! We were graciously greeted with fresh scones and tea after being helped into our beautiful room. Enjoyed a wonderful stay at Highfield House our first night in Ireland. I chose it initially because of its close proximity to Dublin Airport since I knew we would be quite exhausted upon arrival. It was a convenient location across from Trim Castle and within walking distance of pubs & restaurants. The hostess was very friendly and made us feel right at home. The room was charming with a well-equipped and modern ensuite bathroom. In addition, a delicious full Irish breakfast was served, but other options were available. I highly recommend the Highfield House.

We recently returned from a trip to Ireland. We are a family group of five adults and one infant. We spent two wonderful nights at Highfield House. It was not only perfectly located and beautiful both inside and out, but the woman in charge, Geraldine, was the nicest innkeeper who went out of her way to accommodate us including making sure we had access to the refrigerator for the baby, greeting us with scones upon our arrival, accommodating our request for an early breakfast on the day of our departure, and going so far as to mail back to the US my son-in-law's jacket, which he had left behind in our haste. Trim is a lovely town, but staying at Highfield house was one of its highlights.

From the moment I drove up the driveway to the Highfield House, until my last drive down the driveway to my next destination in Ireland, I knew I had selected to best place to stay in the Trim area. The rooms were so inviting, comfy beds, lots of room in the bathroom, and the food, oh the food, absolutely delicious! Not to mention the view from my bedroom, overlooking the beautiful front yard and Trim Castle area. You can leave your car and walk to town, to Trim Castle, all very close. Great location to take day trips to Newgrange, Tara, Dublin, etc. The owners were wonderful, so personable and caring about your every need, along with their staff, Melanie was wonderful. This guesthouse is beautifully decorated and the grounds impeccable. Making plans to return with family and this is my top pick to return to again. I already have friends here in the US anxious to visit. Thanks for a wonderful stay, it was just too short....

My husband and I liked Highfield House and the area around Trim so much that we extended our stay by two days. Geraldine is a fantastic host, so friendly, warm and helpful. Her B&B is spacious, beautifully decorated and welcoming. It is a very short, lovely walk from Trim Castle, and convenient to Hill of Tara, Looughcrew, Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth. Our room was beautiful and perfect; we had great internet. The breakfasts were first class in a bright attractive breakfast room. Most wonderful of all is Geraldine. She is a gem. We will certainly be back again.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience! The location is terrific, walkable to lots of activities in Trim and an easy drive to the Dublin airport without Dublin traffic. The inn is beautifully decorated with lots of character and the rooms nicely appointed. Remodeled modern ensuite bathrooms are lovely. Breakfast was delicious. We were most impressed by the service. The innkeeper was willing to set out plates in the dining room late in the evening so we could enjoy cake for a family member's birthday and made breakfast available half an hour earlier so we could make a flight. Imagine spending your last night in Ireland close to a river and across from a castle. Our only disappointment with the Highfield House was that we couldn't stay longer! Our hosts were terrific! Tea was served upon our arrival. Breakfast on our day of departure was arranged earlier than normal breakfast hours. Recommendations for a dinner restaurant and an after dinner river walk to a pub were excellent. Melania even sent us their recipe for scones and brown bread! Our trip to the Dublin airport was seamless and took less than an hour without having to fight traffic. We would go back to Highfield House in a heart beat.

Three of us from Canada stayed at Highfield Guesthouse a total of four nights. We were awestruck with the wonderful flowers as we approached the beautiful restored building and we kept being impressed: our rooms were wonderfully appointed, the shower bathrooms modern and lovely; the hosts and their assistant could not be more welcoming and helpful. Geraldine gave us tips and suggestions for our touring needs and places to find entertainment and eating establishments in the area. The breakfasts were served in elegant surroundings and will fresh fruitsalad, yogurt, full breakfast, cereal and FANTASTIC warm scones. We were sorry not to have stayed longer. It is a perfect location for taking a bus into Dublin without any hassle, seeing the castle in Trim, Newgrange, the Battle of the Boyne and even Powerscourt.

Probably one of the most inviting and comfortable places I have stayed in Ireland. Forget the big name hotels down the road, stay at Highfield. My daughter and I stayed two nights at the end of June and felt at home as soon as we walked in, to a welcoming afternoon tea. Given that we were visiting Trim as part of a family history throughout the Boyne Valley, our stay was that much more rewarding.

I can't begin to say enough wonderful things about our stay at Highfield House. Geraldine the owner welcomed us with open arms, from the minute we arrived, and made us feel like we were part of her "family". Her staff is equally as wonderful. Beautiful historic property, excellent location - within walking distance to everything, private parking. Rooms are spacious and tastefully appointed. We had a beautiful view of the Boyne River Valley & the 12th century Abbey. Trim Castle is a quick 3 minute walk away. We orignally booked for two nights, but decided to stay a third! We arrived as strangers and we left with a wonderful & beautiful new friend, in Geraldine. We will definitely return!

This is a lovely B & B with a great location. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The river walk is ideal after a day spent sightseeing. Trim castle is literally across the street with just a short walk into town. The Indian restaurant which was recommended by Highfield House staff, was one of our favorites while in Ireland.

We couldn't ask for a more pleasant place to stay. Can't say enough good about the staff, owners, facility, food, etc. Would recommend this if ever going to Trim. They even called the taxi for prices and pick up when we were leaving. Very, very, wonderful all around. The Trim is just across the street and everything is very accessible from the house.

This bed and breakfast was absolutely amazing! It is so beautiful inside, is in a great location and the owners went out of their way to help us out. We had an early-morning flight and needed to leave before breakfast was served. They made a breakfast tray for us the night before, including food we could bring on the plane. My only complaint was the thin walls. We got woke up at 4 a.m. by our neighbors.

What a lovely place with the kindest most accomadating innkeepers one could wish for. We staying at the Highfield House for a total of 3 nights at either end of our Irish trip--coming and going to the Dublin airport. Eddie and Geraldine welcomed us both times even though we arrived ahead of time and then prepared a breakfast tray for us so we could eat before leaving for an early flight. Delightful last night in Ireland! We were treated to scones and tea upon arrival. Loved our spacious room with a beautiful view. And appreciated the offer of a cheese and fruit plate breakfast after so many "Irish Breakfasts". Trim is a lovely place to stay with a walk along the river. The rooms and facilities are fantastic, the view across the Boyne from the garden spectacular. It is very conveniently located just 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Trim. Our room was beautifully furnished and decorated, with lots of space and storage, and the ensuite bathroom was very clean with a good shower and amazingly lit by a skylight! The room was always nice and warm and had a comfortable double bed as well as a huge flatscreen TV with satellite channels. The only real quibbles we had were about a missing lightbulb, and the breakfast. There were not enough tables for all the guests, which resulted in a rather long wait on Sunday when everyone came down late. The dining room had enough space for another couple of tables though. The cooked Irish breakfast was pretty good, as were the brown bread and jam, but the choice of coffee, fruit and juice provided could be revisited as none were freshly prepared as advertised. If these issues were addressed, I believe the Highfield Guest House would be very good value for money.

We chose to stay in Highfield House because of the close proximity to the airport. We found the grounds to be magnificant and the interior charming. Breakfast was wonderful and included fresh out-of-the-oven scones. The room was clean and inviting, but small. It was difficult for me to apply my makeup and fix my hair because there was no table or shelf with a mirror. The only mirror was in the bathroom with one very small shelf. The bathroom had a clawfoot tub that my husband and I were afraid to try to climb into it without grab bars. The hosts were very nice.

The hosts could not have been nicer - welcoming and full of information to guide you. As we have family/friends in Trim, all of whom highly recommended Highfield House, we did not spend a lot of time at H.H., however the time spent was lovely, breakfasts fantastic, perfect location, and our rooms were sweet, extrememely clean, had windows that opened and all needs met. Stayed at Highfield House in late August. We got in very late and had to leave fairly early next morning so we didn't get to fully appreciate the beauty of the grounds. The room was excellent. Most comfortable bed I slept in on the entire 16-day trip staying at 12 different places. The breakfast was good Irish breakfast, tasty and filling. Several choices and quick service. The proprietor even gave us a ride down the road to the nearest bust stop on the morning we left. Great experience, will definitely make a point to stay there again if I make it back to Ireland!

I went to Highfield House on a recommendation and I'm so glad I did. It is located within walking distance to Trim Castle my favorite Irish castle and several other medieval sites. The B&B building is beautiful and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious. Some locals told me that the building used to be a maternity hospital! The best part of Highfield House is the friendliness and the food. Geraldine and Eddie were warm, intelligent, and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, especially the breads. They make their own brown bread and scones fresh daily. Yum. This is really a wonderful deal for the price. If you want to see sites in the area it's half an hour to New Grange and the Hill of Tara, stay here for a couple nights instead of busing from Dublin.

Comfy room in a tidy town Large, clean double room on 2nd floor with nice view of the Trim river Easy to locate and convenient free parking Innkeepers Geraldine and Edward were kind and accomodating and if anything, would liked to have interact with them a bit more! Appreciated the hot pot of tea on arrival Excellent breakfast and service Some noise audible from neighboring guests and creaking floors but overall, a very comfortable two night stay

We could not have been any more pleased with our stay at Highfield House Our family room was beautiful and cozy and the bathroom was luxurious! Our hosts were fantastic and our breakfast, delicious! Trim was only our first night in Ireland and we all would like to return to that town and that B&B The children and myself! LOVED the town donkeys just across the road and how often can you look at a castle from your window!!! The house and the grounds are as beautiful as the photos!
