We loved our stay at Gleann Na Smol B&B. Sean is an excellent host, made us feel welcome from the first moment we met. Sean is up each morning to greet you, make your breakfast and happy to help you with your adventure into the city. Sean is very knowledgeable and enjoys sharing the history of the B&B, Howth and Ireland in general. It was nice for our first time to review our plan each day with Sean and guest to get feedback as to best times, best route and best place to eat in the area. Another enjoyment was the other guest that were staying there too. We left with more friends than we came with. We will visit Sean again.

Sean was a lovely, friendly host and very helpful with information about getting around Dublin. Breakfasts were delicious and the room was warm and comfortable. Howth itself is a lovely place to stay. We wish we had had longer there.

We loved it here. Sean was very welcoming, helpful and friendly that we felt we had a true home away from home. He really went out of the way for us, giving us rides to the train station when needed, etc. He also had great advice for us as far as ideas for what to do. The other guests there were obviously happy too and we enjoyed getting to know them during our delicious Irish breakfasts.

Sean is a great host!
He went out of his way to drive me to the Castle in time for my race! Good location in quiet location.
Easy access to trail and short pleasant walk to town for all your meals. It’s a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere. And all the other guests seemed happy to be there as well.

A little tired and very basic room with en-suite, towels and bedding provided. Beds made daily by relatives of owner Sean. Very welcoming with lots and lots of local information. Offers of car lifts to the train station or busses. Good breakfast and plenty of tea and fresh coffee. Would be nice to have had coffee/tea making in the room but I'm sure if we'd asked, Sean would've let us help ourselves from the kitchen. Without meaning to sound like a personal criticism, Sean is a little unkempt, but maybe this adds to the homely feel of the place.

Our booking at Gleann Na Smol was comfortable and accompanied by the friendliness and kindness of Sean. The room was very nice and clean, with a small private bathroom. The breakfast traditional or European was abundant, homemade and tasty. The place is definitely recommended for the great location, one step from the sea.

Let me just say, Sean is the man! It was lovely hospitality and the rooms were nice and cozy. This was our first stop while on vacation through Ireland and Scotland, and it set the bar high. Howth is a great location if you aren't into the hustle and bustle of a big city like Dublin. Howth was perfect as it was a short tram ride into the city for site seeing but then you could go back to the coastal town to enjoy the scenery and the quiet. Sean made us breakfast every day and was always willing to point us in the right direction when we needed help or just wanted to know of some good places to visit. Great little place to stay and would recommend it to anyone.

This place is great and the folks who run it make you feel immediately at home. The room I stayed in was modest but comfortable with a really nice bathroom just down the hall. Sean is a great host and cook and goes the extra mile for his guests. Highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed in Gleann Na Smol Lin Sunday 26st June, this was a second time staying in this delightful B&B. It is not the Shelbourne or the Gresham but it has what they do not have a personal touch a friendliness a direct contact with your hosts, always a story to tell. Our room was comfortable and cozy. You get a lovely cooked full Irish breakfast served to you at the table and all the usual sides. They are lovely people and I have this thing of judging people by their attitude to animals!! Well these people feed the birds out in the garden have a Seagul that knocks on the window for its breakfast and also look after the urban Fox. Would I recommend Gleann Na Smol to my friends and others yes definitely.

Paul and Shawn are really nice guys and treat you like family! They made up for the room and the ramshackle house which was rather funky. Our room had two single beds and one slightly larger bed that couldn't sleep two people but it was private and quiet. Kind of like a mini barracks. You couldn't move around the room without turning sideways. No pictures on the walls and the decor was very old. Rather a pretty long walk from the train station...and uphill. With luggage, that was not fun but Shawn drove us to the train station when we left. Beautiful waterfront and trail further up the hill down the road the B&B is on. However, as I said, the warmth of the owner and assistant as well as the price made up for it. Howth is a great place to visit!!

The accommodations were adequate except that there was the sound of a generator going on and off all night long.
No extra rolI of TP - I had to ask.
I was there to hike some of the trails and they had no information about how to reach a trial from their B&B. They pointed me to a path that eventually came out to the road and there was no way to find the actual hiking trails from there.

Nice hosts who gave me a lot of tipps and tried to help. The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was very delicious. The B&B is close to the harbour and the cliff walk, so you can walk it or take the bus.
Thank you for the hospitality!

Sean Rickards is a most hospitable host. Good breakfast and clean, neat, comfortable accommodations.
Location is excellent for visiting Dublin. It's a 10 minute walk to the DART and then a 20 min ride into city on train without putting up with busy Dublin area traffic.
Sean is well informed about Dublin area and most accommodating. Will transport you and your bags to and from the DART station. He has lots of helpful suggestions on what to do and where to go in greater Dublin-Wicklow area. Also he's a great conversationalist and has lots of good stories about Ireland and everyday Irish life

Howth is great location, near Dublin airport, for beginning your trip to Ireland and getting your bearings. Sean is a great host with good advice for your travels. The B&B is close to nice hikes and Howth sites. Also an easy train ride into Dublin. Excellent Irish breakfast. Housekeeping and maintenance of the facilities could be better, a little dust, mostly, but nothing alarming.

My family and I arrived in Dublin port at 12:15am. I had aleady contacted Sean to say we would be late. Such a friendly place. I came straight from the airport and a flight from Australia so really appreciated Owner Sean and his mate Paul who were both so friendly and informative. Very close to the brilliant cliff walk, a pub or 3 and the Dart into Dublin. I loved the laid back place and clients of all ages. Bed was good too and the sheets smelt of sunshine. I'll be back!

It is not the most modern B&B furniture is old, cobwebs in the wardrobes but has a lot going for it and I would recommend it.
The owner is a lovely character, with just enough chat.
Breakfast was yum and very well presented
It is near to the town c. 10mins walk
Super comfy beds
Should I be staying in Howth in the future, I will be checking into Gleann na Smol.
